In 2019, in celebration of the 100th Anniversary of the founding of the Canadian Federation of University Women, clubs across Canada added over $200,000 to the one million dollars awarded to Canadian students yearly.

CFUW South Delta set up a one time "CFUW 100th Anniversary Phoebe Hamilton Bursary" to recognize a founding member. CFUW South Delta was pleased to award the Phoebe Hamilton Bursary at our January meeting to Olivia Priestlay. Olivia is a UBC student in the Department of Psychology. Olivia is interested in early childhood development and the importance of speech and language as a link between communication and positive mental health.

Phoebe Hamilton’s daughter Tiffany presented the $4,000 award to Olivia. She was delighted to present Tiffany with this bursary and spoke about her and her mother’s common interest in this area of study that Olivia is pursuing.

CFUW South Delta gives Bursaries and Scholarships to local women every year. Contact bmatthew@dccnet.com for a 2020 application.
